Volunteers Needed for Shorebird Survey

Western Sandpiper (Mike Yip)

Census results have suggested that once-abundant shorebird species may be in decline, and this has prompted a hemispheric effort to explore possible explanations. In 2013, Bird Studies Canada and the Centre for Wildlife Ecology at Simon Fraser University launched a new collaborative project to study Western Sandpiper abundance and behaviour with the help of citizen scientists.

The researchers are looking for volunteers for survey work in the Squamish Estuary in the summer of 2017.
