Updated: Discovery Walk: Citizen Science Tools Webinar, April 1, 2020

To view the webinar.

Our next Discovery Walk will be at your location of choice, and instead of being on the last Sunday in March it will be on Wednesday April 1, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. This will allow us to participate in a very special webinar, organized by the Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative.

This webinar will help you learn about easy tools to capture and record the biodiversity of the Atl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound region: iNaturalist, Biodiversity Squamish, and Report-A-Weed .

  • iNaturalist experts, Kelly Fretwell (Citizen Science Coordinator with BC Parks Foundation) and Judith Holm (Project Coordinator for Biodiversity Squamish) will demonstrate iNaturalist and answer questions.
  • Report-A-Weed specialist Mike Shasko (Invasive Species Database Specialist with Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations, and Rural Development) will help us understand the value of Report-A-Weed from the perspective of staff working behind the scenes.
  • Ruth Simons will talk about the value of this information within a Biosphere Region and upcoming projects where volunteers can contribute.
