2017 Christmas Bird Count Results – Draft

Christmas Bird Count Results are in!

Conditions for the December 18 Squamish count were challenging, with steady snow throughout the day and a very high tide. Despite the poor visibility, our bird counters saw 71 species and over 8400 individuals. This included 8 Anna’s Hummingbirds, a record for Squamish, 526 bald eagles, and a number of ‘good’ birds, not normally seen at this time of year.

The full results are available on the Audubon website. (type BCSQ in the ‘count code’ field)

If you missed the count and would like to participate next year, contact Marcia Danielson. New counters are always welcome and you don’t have to be an expert birder! Marci is also looking at creating some ‘mini routes’ for those who would like to participate, but can’t commit to a whole day of birding.
