Reconnecting with the Wildlife Connectivity Project
Join wildlife ecologist Kate Andy for an inside look at the Wildlife Connectivity Project’s “connectivity network” — which identifies and maps critical habitat patches and the movement pathways that link them. Kate will share why maintaining connections between high-value habitats is vital for wildlife and how the community can use the connectivity network as a tool to support wildlife movement across the landscape. She’ll also showcase how this innovative work has been shaped by the powerful contributions of community science — proving that everyday observations can help drive real conservation impact.
Beyond the Birdhouse: Engineering the Perfect Purple Martin Home
What can a tiny temperature sensor tell us about the future of Purple Martins? This year, the Purple Martin Recovery Project went beyond monitoring population numbers to uncovering the hidden climate inside their nests. Join us to find out what the first year results from our nest box temperature study revealed. We’re comparing six box designs against natural cavities to answer a critical question: How can we build a better home for our aerial acrobats?
