Results: EagleWatch Photo Contest 2018 – 2019

The EagleWatch photo contest was back this year, with an expanded presence in social media and sponsorship from our local London Drugs. The contest ran from early November through January 31, and photos had to be taken in the Squamish Valley between October 1 and January 31 this season. We had 276 entries from 36 photographers, including the very young through to the very experienced. The range of photographic styles and settings gave our judges a huge challenge.

Our first winner is this stunning image of an adult eagle calling, by Jon Timmer (Bellingham).

Our second winner is this beautiful image of a juvenile eagle in flight, by Sara King (Squamish).

Our final winner is this unique image of an adult eagle in flight, by Carolyn Matt (Vancouver).

The team at EagleWatch thanks everyone who supported our contest by submitting entries and by following us on social media. Special thanks to London Drugs for donating stunning 16 in x 24 in aluminum prints for each of the three winners. The contest was organized and conducted by EagleWatch volunteer and keen photographer Tristan Rayner, who gave up the chance to participate so that everyone else could compete. A truly generous act, Tristan!

A slide show including the 50 finalist images is set up in the photo processing department at London Drugs Squamish. Drop in and  be inspired for next eagle season’s shooting!
