Squamish Council Votes Unanimous Support for Wildlife Connectivity Project

SES and DOS staff made a joint presentation on May 9 to update DOS Council on our Wildlife Connectivity Project. Karlene Loudon, our consultant for the recently-completed Scoping Phase, spoke on behalf of SES and Sarah McJannet, Senior Planner at the DOS, provided background and recommendations to Council.

Council members were enthusiastic about the project, offered suggestions, and asked many insightful and helpful questions. They recognized the potential for the project to combine a regional focus with a local one, and to compliment other initiatives underway in Squamish. They voted unanimously to support the remaining phases of the project and to include the project in the 2024 budget discussions.

We are grateful for their interest and look forward to bringing them more updates.

A video of this Committee of the Whole meeting is available: our presentation starts at 3:15 of the recording and the discussion and vote run to 3:55.
