Yellow Flag Iris is a high priority for eradication in the Sea to Sky corridor. The Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC) crews are mapping it, digging it up, and hauling it out of our local wetlands, lakeshores and riverbanks. SSISC recently carried out surveys for and mapped occurrences of the invasive Yellow Flag Iris in Whistler and Squamish, but they can’t be everywhere at once!
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS PLANT? It invades wetlands, out-competes native species, increases sedimentation, and fills in water bodies with its rapid growth.
If you see it, please report it:
- email: ssinvasives@gmail.com
- call: 604-698-8334
- report it through: Report-A-Weed app or website
The SSISC field crews will verify sightings and work with landowners to remove the plants.
